Psychiatry In-patient Locums Assignment for May to December

Adirondack Region – Enjoy the seasons of one of the country’s most beautiful places.


This position will have you working with the largest health provider in the region, a trauma level II regional medical center and a pioneer in medical home.

  • You will be covering an 18 bed adult unit seeing patients ages 18 and up.
  • This is a Monday – Friday – 8:00- 4:30pm work week.
  • The Average length of stay is approximately 10-14 days.  There are both locked and unlocked areas within the unit.
  • Call –1:4 weekends and weeknights.
  • Call on weekdays: 1 or 2 or 3 nights.
  • Charting is electronic.
  • The case mix is approximately 90% psychopharmacology and 10% psychotherapy.
  • The average number of admissions per day is 0-5.
  • H&P’s are performed on all admissions within 24 hours.  Patients are typically admitted on an involuntary basis with support from a crisis team.
  • You will see a full spectrum of patient diagnoses including substance abuse, depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. You will be responsible for up to 12 inpatients plus 0-5 consults on the floors and in the ED.
  • Count on the full support staff: including RN’s, therapists, social workers, case coordinators, community agencies and an additional psychiatrist when the census is high.
  • A current NY license is a requirement.
  • Inpatient experience required within the last 5 years.
  • Travel, overnight accommodations and malpractice –PAID
